Amazing and the best Tonkatsu in Kagoshima. The meat itself is thick and juicy with crispy outer. The owner is the chef himself. The owner also personally came to serve me after identified me as a foreigner from time to time even though the restaurant is busy.

A must visit place for one of the most amazing tonkatsu. When we visited, there were a lot of locals eating there. It is truly a well loved tonkatsu store among locals. We all ordered pork and shrimp teishoku set. The serving portions are gigantic but we finished them anyway. If you visit during lunch time, I think the lunch set is enough to make you feel perfectly full. The sauce is sooooooooo good and very well balanced, not too tangy not too sweet. The chef recommended us to eat it along with mustard and it is the game changer. Despite the super thick cut of the pork, it is super juicy and tender. It lives up to the reputation of the tender kurobuta. The shrimps are also as big as a person’s face.

Easily the best restaurant I've been to in Japan so far. The highest quality pork in the world, super crispy outside and juicy inside. Friendly family owns it. Not cheap but you pay for the amazing quality.

Had lunch here before visiting the volcano. There was a line but it only took around 15 minutes. Very kind staff and they speak a bit of English as well. They also have an English menu, and the staff will explain how to properly eat the Tonkotsu. Best tonkotsu I ever tasted!

Found this place via a recommendation on Reddit and it was wonderful. The atmosphere is 10/10, recommend getting the counter seat to see what 43 years of making katsu looks like. Menu is simple but each element is top notch. I really recommend the Premium set, the texture is divine. Staff and owner/chef speak very good English and took a minute to show us how locals eat their katsu and do some small talk. We came at the opening and were able to get a table with no wait. Since all katsu is made right in front of you from scratch it might take like 15 minutes to get your food, but it’s well worth the wait. Will certainly come again.

Came here at 11:40am and there was a line of around 10 people. By 12 we entered. Ordered the pork fillet katsu - 1400 yen including soup, rice and pickles. At first the owner looks like an angry owner but in fact he was very friendly and spoke English. The katsu was very juicy and of great quality, the breading was thick and crunchy which I liked a lot. Highly recommended. Now I need to go for a run to burn it off.

Super good restaurant . The chef has been working for long time, preparing delicious tonkatsu. This place is most when visiting Kagoshima. The portions are huge and price reasonable.

English menu, cash payment only. We waited ~30minutes at lunchtime to get a counter seat. The chef personally came out and explaines how to eat the meal. The meat was super juicy and tender, a really filling meal. Great service also!
